Who We Are:

Secor Sportsman's Club was founded in 1948 by a group of individuals dedicated to sharing their passion with others. Based in central Illinois, we are an active and enthusiastic Club with events and activities taking place year-round. We like to keep up the energy and excitement, always welcoming the community to take part. Simply put, we love getting together to do what we love. All events are open to the public besides the monthly member meeting.

History:

May 23rd, 1956 four passionate individuals (Roland Diener, George Jakob, Henry Schroeder, and Melvin Moreland) incorporated the Secor Sportsman's Club. The purpose was to further the preservation of wildlife, the raising of wildlife, and the conservation of the same. To promote good fellowship among hunters, the corporation is not-for-profit.

The Club started out as a plot of land, and grew immensely into what we see today. Anderson Van Scyoc donated 10 acres of land and the Club bought 10 acres from him. Shortly after, construction started to build the 6-acre lake to provide members with a place to fish. The Lake was built about 500 feet long (east-west) and 300 feet wide (north-south) and approximately 22 feet at it's deepest point. Once completed, a clubhouse was built on the northeast corner of the lake.

The first officers consisted of:

         President- Roland Diener

         Vice President- Edd Stack

         Secretary- Henry Schroeder

         Treasurer- Melvin Moreland

         Trustee- John Delaney

         Trustee- Bill Colburn

         Trustee- Bert Potter

In the past, the Club would raise 300-500 pheasants which were turned loose throughout Palestine Township.
